Program Records and Personal Bests at Sea Lion Invite

San Diego, CA – The women's track & field team traveled to San Diego, CA to compete in the Sea Lion Invite hosted by Point Loma Nazarene University on Saturday March 14.  Highlights included junior Alison Unruh shattering the program record in the 10K, the sprint team joining her by setting a new program best in the 4x100 relay, and the throws squad setting six new personal bests on the day.

Long Distance
In addition to a program record, Unruh's time of 38:42 was also a new personal best by 56 seconds.  Teammate Priscilla Celis-Saldivar joined her in the race, and her time of 40:38 was over two minutes faster than her former best and now places her second only to Unruh for the distance in program history.

Sprints & Jumps
The day started though with the ladies 4x100 team, comprised of India Green, Georgia Gomez, Anabel Johnson and Rylan Rhodes, setting a program record with a time of 49.3.  Later in the day, Green & Johnson would run strong 100 and 200 meter races.  Green's times of 12.74 and 26.65 are currently tops in the GSAC.  Gomez competed in the 400 and her time of 1:00.86 ranks her fourth in the GSAC.  Rhodes, the defending conference champion in the long jump, had her best jump of the season thus far with a leap of 17' 3.75".

Throws
Sophomore Sedona Dietrich, who finished runner-up in the shot put at the conference championships a year ago, started her outdoor campaign with a new personal best throw of 39' 1.75" and this is currently the best throw in the GSAC thus far.  Freshman Emma Webster set new personal bests in the shot put (33' 6.25"), discus (116' 6.75") and javelin (76' 5").  Webster's discus throw is currently top in the GSAC.

Middle Distance
Freshman Alexi Till ran the first 1500 of her career and crossed the line in 5:18.1, while teammate Kaesha Guillaume who joined her in the 1500, also doubled in the 800 was the top Firestorm finisher with a time of 2:39.62.

Thoughts from Head Coach Brian Bell
"Our ladies proved once again they are the defending conference champions for a reason.  I was particularly impressed with Alison breaking the 10k school record and our 4x100 relay doing the same.  We also had six PRs from the lady throwers.  We look forward to building on these performances at the Cody McBride later this week."
