Glendale, AZ – The women's track & field team took a short trip across town to Glendale Community College for an invitational which featured a mixture of NCAA Division 1, NJCAA, and GSAC competition. The team received strong contributions once again from its sprint contingent of
Rylan Rhodes,
India Green, Annabel Johnson and
Georgia Gomez who lowered their program record 4x100 relay time to 48.99. Sophomore
Sedona Dietrich recovered from an off day in shot put to shatter the program record in the discus with a throw of 143' 06".
Throwing Events
Dietrich was the top thrower for the Firestorm in all three throwing events on Saturday (shot put, discus and hammer). She leads the GSAC in both the shot put and discus, and sits behind teammate Adelien Santa Maria in the hammer throw.
Sprints & Hurdles
After the 4x100 relay, Green set new personal bests in the 100 (12.51) and 200 (25.84) meter races. Both times are currently tops in the GSAC.
McKenna Rogers stepped up in a big way in both the 100- and 400-meter hurdles setting new personal bests in both events and moving up the GSAC rankings to third place in the 100H and fourth place in the 400H.
Long Distance
The trio of
Ezra Haller (18:36),
Alison Unruh (19:01) and
Priscilla Celis-Saldivar (19:13) went 1-2-3 in the women's 5K. Celis-Saldivar's time was a new personal best, and Haller's 18:36 was a season best for her.
Jumps
Rhodes achieved a season best mark in the long jump of 17' 11.75".
Avery Burns matched her season best in the high jump with a mark of 4' 10.25", and defending GSAC Triple Jump champion
Goldyn Hall set a season best in the event with a jump of 35' 3.75".

Next On the Schedule
The Firestorm will next compete at the GSAC Track & Field Championships in Aliso Viejo, CA on the campus of Soka University. The meet will start on Thursday April 23 with the multi-event championships and conclude on Saturday April 25.
