Glendale, Ariz.- The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) announced the NAIA Men's bracket for the upcoming NWCA/USMC Multi-Division National Dual Meet Championships, presented by A Better Way Athletics, Capital Construction, and Defense Soap. The tournament will take place on Friday, January 9 through Saturday, January 10 starting at 10am at the University of Northern Iowa's UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
Arizona Christian University's Men's Wrestling was invited for the first time in program history to compete as the 13th seed. The tournament includes other NAIA competitors such as Grand View, Indiana Tech, Southeastern University, Southern Oregon, and Embry Riddle among others.
On Friday, the Firestorm are set to compete against no. 4 seed Southeastern University at 10am. The winner of that match will advance to face off against the winner of Campbellsville (Ky.) and Cumberlands (Ky.).
Head coach Michael Butterfield shared some thoughts on the upcoming tournament. "I am extremely excited for our guys to have the opportunity to prove themselves and our team as one of the best in the country this weekend at National Duals. Getting invited to National Duals is a prestigious honor and is the first time in program history that we have been invited. We will open up competition on Friday at 10 am in the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls, IA as the #13 seed going against #4 seeded Southeastern University. This tournament serves as the national dual tournament to determine the best dual team in the country, which is different from individual nationals at the end of the season. We currently have 12 wrestlers ranked in the Cascade Conference, and 6 ranked nationally, who will all be looking to move up in the rankings this weekend heading into the 2nd half of the year. We are thankful for all of the support we have received from our friends, family, and fans heading into this year, as this wouldn't be possible without you."
