Glendale, Ariz.- On Tuesday, the 2026 NAIA Softball All-America Teams were announced by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and
Dayna Herrera was named a First Team All-American. Herrera led the NAIA with a .526 batting average on the season.
Herrera, hailing from Albuquerque, NM, is a two-way star for the Firestorm that impressed at the plate and in the circle in 2026. With a bat in her hand, Herrera topped Arizona Christian in nearly every offensive category- at bats (137), hits (72), doubles (20), home runs (8), and RBI (54). Her percentages - on base (.608) and slugging (.847)- were top notch.
Not to be overlooked, the righthander delivered a 14-6 record with a 2.95 ERA, 3 saves, and 90 strikeouts versus just 29 walks from the circle. Of her 19 starts, she went the distance 11 times.
Coach
Mike Mayben stated, "Dayna had an amazing season. It was a testament to her work ethic, and talent. Even more important, she is an incredible teammate and servant leader. We are extremely proud of D and all she has accomplished in her time here at Arizona Christian."
With Herrera leading the way, Arizona Christian Softball returned to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round.
The All-American selection for Herrera is just the second First Team honor in ACU program history.
Great season. Dayna- congrats on All-American recognition!
