Box Score 2 PHOENIX, AZ– The Arizona Christian Firestorm softball team split their games with the Embry-Riddle Eagles on Saturday afternoon by finals of 0-1 and 5-2 at North Canyon High School.
The Firestorm now currently sit at 3-1 overall on the season. With the split, the Embry-Riddle Eagles are now 1-15 on the season.
Game one featured a total of five hits; two from Embry-Riddle and three from Arizona Christian. The lone run came in the third inning on a bases loaded walk, to give the Eagles the 1-0 lead.
Firestorm starter Jackie Aguilar (1-1) went all seven innings in the loss, surrendering the one run on two hits to go along with her six strikeouts and one walk.
Game two featured more runs and more excited for Firestorm fans. After being held scoreless in game one, ACU struck for a run in the bottom of the first inning on an Abbey Beasley homerun to give the Firestorm the early 1-0 lead.
Embry-Riddle would go on to take the lead in the top of the second inning on a single and a bad throw; putting the Eagles up 2-1.
Arizona Christian scored a run to tie the game in the third inning on an Eagles error. Presley Whetman and Meaghen Nelson homered in the fifth inning to give the Firestorm a 4-2 lead. The game's final run came in the bottom of the sixth inning on a bases loaded walk to give ACU the 5-2 advantage.
Patricia Porter (1-0) went the distance for the Firestorm, while allowing two runs; both unearned on seven hits with a strikeout and a walk.
The Firestorm remain in Phoenix to begin GSAC play, when they welcome the Biola Eagles to town next Saturday February 28th. The games are scheduled for 12 noon and 2pm.
