Box Score 2 Phoenix, AZ- Game one was all San Diego Christian as they won 10-0 before Arizona Christian answered back with a 6-1 win for the Saturday split. The game two win makes the Firestorm the first team to seven wins in GSAC play. Juniors Kylie Christman and Taylor Fabing both drove in two runs.
The Hawks (22-7, 6-2 GSAC) started the first game barrage with two runs in the first. After scoring a single run in the second and fourth, SDCC exploded for three runs in both the fifth and sixth innings.
For the Firestorm (16-7-1, 7-3 GSAC) they could only manage a single by Junior Sianna Gomez and walk by Christman in the first and then a single by Sophomore Ashlynn Preciado in the fifth against SDCC's Kendra Kuper.
In the second game, both teams had a few chances before ACU found the scoreboard for the first time on the day in the third. Senior Alyssa Vanderdrink doubled to left center and came home on an RBI single by Christman.
Arizona Christian scored in every inning the rest of the game. In the fourth, Senior Meaghen Nelson doubled before Junior Destinee Spencer brought in Nelson with a single. Senior Abby Beasley and Christman singled ahead of Fabing who doubled home both in the fifth. In the sixth, Spencer and Gomez singled and scored on RBI singles for Beasley and Christman.
For Spencer in the circle, she worked around a runner in every inning but two before giving up an unearned run in the top of the seventh. Spencer moved up to 8-1 on the year.
Next week, the Firestorm head into a very busy week as they play Tuesday through Friday with a trip to Tucson in the mix. They will begin their week up at Embry-Riddle (AZ) in Prescott for an evening affair beginning at 5:00 pm. The Hawks will play again on Tuesday at Saint Katherine in San Marcos.
