Box Score 2 Atherton, CA- On Friday, with rain falling out throughout the day, Arizona Christian and Menlo used big innings to split 12-5 and 8-4. Junior Kylie Christman blasted two home runs and a double with nine RBI on the day.
After the Oaks (9-8, 3-1 GSAC) pushed across two in the bottom of the second, the Firestorm (8-1-1 GSAC) used a homer to right by Senior Abby Beasley to get on the board.
But Menlo scored five in the fourth and sixth to account for their 12 run total. In between, ACU tried to answer with four runs in the top of the sixth highlighted by a three run shot off the bat of Christman.
Senior Jackie Aguilar went the first 3.2 innings and took the loss to drop to 4-1.
In the soggy day cap, the Firestorm used a double by Beasley, walk to Senior Alyssa Vanderdrink, and three run bomb by Christman to quickly take a 3-0 lead in the top of the first.
One inning later, the Firestorm sent ten to plate. A single, three walks, and one hit batter scored two runs before Christman cleared the bases with a three run double. A five run second gave ACU an 8-0 cushion.
Junior Destinee Spencer scattered four runs over her complete game effort.
With Saturday's games at William Jessup already listed as rained out, the Firestorm will next be in action on Tuesday down in Tucson. In single game format, ACU will play four teams in two days. Their first game will be at 1:30 pm against Olivet Nazarene.
