Box Score 2 La Mirada, CA- For the second double header in as many days, Arizona Christian collected just one extra base hit in the two games but forced a split. On Saturday, the generous Eagles walked the Firestorm 14 times total as the teams split 4-2 and 7-3. Freshman Paige Church doubled in the day cap.
Senior Sianna Gomez walked to begin the day and then came home on an error for the 1-0 edge in the first. Junior Cheyann Michael walked and Gomez drove her home with a single in the second for the early 2-0 lead.
The Eagles (14-7-2, 3-3 GSAC) cut the ACU lead in half with a run in the bottom of the second. But in the third, a three run inning highlighted by a two run home run pushed Biola in front 4-2.
Both teams threatened numerous times but neither would score again in the opener.
Junior Ashlynn Preciado (2-7) was charged with the loss despite not issuing a walk in her complete game effort.
Game two saw the Firestorm (7-11, 3-5 GSAC) put together a five run inning with three hits and four walks (three of which scored). Church sent a double to center to drive in one run. Sophomore Janay Garcia dropped a single into right to score two runs- her first hit and RBIs in an ACU uniform.
Arizona Christian tacked on two more runs in the fifth. Freshman Hilaria Stewart and Junior Chelsea Havill singled back-to-back followed by a walk to Garcia to load the bases. An error then allowed Stewart and Havill to score.
Seven was the magic number for ACU in game two as they scored seven runs on seven hits with seven walks.
Stewart (3-3) survived 13 hits by Biola in large part due to allowing no walks and limiting the damage to single runs in three innings on her way to the complete game win.
On Thursday, the Firestorm will head to Tucson for five games in two days at Lincoln Park. They open with Madonna at 3:30 pm.
