Box Score 2 Phoenix, AZ- In their doubleheader with Embry-Riddle (AZ) on Saturday, Arizona Christian celebrated a walk-off 3-2 win in game one before falling 12-4 in the day cap for the split. Junior Kylee Brown delivered a 4-6 day including the walk-off hit and a home run, triple, and 4 RBI.
To begin the afternoon, the Firestorm (4-4) struck for two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Senior Bridget Kruck doubled to center before Brown tripled her home. Senior Chelsea Havill collected an RBI on a groundout that scored Brown.
In the top of the third, the Eagles answered with three straight hits capped by a double to score two runs.
Sophomore Hilaria Stewart (1-0) threw a complete game and retired 14 of the last 16 batters after the double to set up the dramatic finish.
Senior Ashlynn Preciado pinch hit and collected a single to left to begin the seventh. Senior Alyssa Rodriguez laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Preciado up to second. Two batters later, Kruck singled to send Preciado to third. Brown then sent a single back up the middle to plate Preciado for the game winner.
Game two saw Embry-Riddle score the first ten runs including seven in the top of the second.
ACU scored four too little too late before ERAU added two more. In the fourth, Brown walked, Freshman Shae Bushey singled, and Junior Taylor Babbitt walked in front of a two RBI pinch hit double by Freshman Elsy Guzman. In the fifth, Rodriguez singled before Brown deposited her second home run of the season over the left field fence.
Preciado had a rough go in the circle to fall to 2-1 on the year.
Next weekend, ACU will see ERAU again as the Firestorm head up to Prescott to participate in the Copper State Classic hosted by Embry-Riddle. ACU will play six games (though the first one will be a scrimmage) in two days.
