ACU Out Homer HIU But Royals Sweep

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Phoenix, AZ- On Saturday, Sophomore Paige Church and Junior Kylee Brown both homered versus no home runs for Hope International.  But the #6 Royals used nine combined doubles and triples to subdue the Firestorm 7-1 and 8-4.

In game one, the Royals (41-5, 13-3 GSAC) built a 4-0 lead before Church sent her seventh home run of the season over the center field wall at Shadow Mountain High School.

HIU added three more runs and only allowed two base runners after the Church blast.

Senior Bridget Kruck was 2-3 in the game.

Senior Ashlynn Preciado made her 79th appearance in the circle- the most for any pitcher in ACU history.  Unfortunately, she took the loss to fall to 3-9.

Game two started in the same fashion as the opener as Hope International built a 4-0 lead.  Brown reclaimed the Arizona Christian team lead with a bomb to center- her eighth of the year- for a familiar 4-1 score.

The Firestorm (12-21, 4-10 GSAC) scored three more unearned runs but the Royals countered with four more runs of their own to account for the 8-4 final.

Freshman Shae Bushey went 2-3 in the day cap.

Arizona Christian celebrated their five seniors before the games- Preciado, Kruck, Cheyann Michael, Chelsea Havill, and Alyssa Rodriguez.

On Tuesday, the Firestorm will play their final two home games of the season when they host Ottawa (AZ) at Rose Mofford Sports Complex.  First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
