Firestorm Oaked

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Atherton, CA- After losing a double header due to rain on Friday against WJU, Arizona Christian faced off with Menlo on Saturday.  The Oaks knocked off the Firestorm 2-0 and 5-1.  Senior Chelsea Havill went 3-4 in the second game.

Game one was a pitcher's duel from the word go as Sophomore Hilaria Stewart and Menlo's Sarah Reyes kept the game at 0-0 until the bottom of the sixth.

The Firestorm (12-19, 4-8 GSAC) only had two players reach second base against Reyes- Junior Kylee Brown (single and wild pitch in the first) and Senior Bridget Kruck (single and stolen base in the sixth).  Brown walked behind Kruck for the only inning with multiple ACU runners.

Stewart scattered three singles- none in the same inning- through the first five innings.

After Stewart (5-4) retired seven straight including the first out in the sixth, the Oaks (23-14, 8-2 GSAC) strung together four hits over a five batter span to plate the only two runs of game one.

The day cap started with Freshman Elsy Guzman reaching on a fielder's choice and scoring on a RBI double from Junior Taylor Babbitt.

But ACU would only get one runner to third base the rest of the afternoon.

Meanwhile, Menlo scored two runs in the second, one unearned run in the third, and two more in the sixth.

The Firestorm will be back in action next Saturday when they host Hope International at Shadow Mountain High School.  The five ACU seniors will be honored before the first pitch.
