One Inning Rallies Cannot Slow No. 14 Lions

Phoenix, AZ- On Friday, Arizona Christian scored all their runs of their double header with No. 14 Vanguard in two innings.  But it was not enough to slow the Lions.

  • Down 7-0 headed into the bottom of the seventh, Porras lead off the inning with her second homer of the season
  • San Pedro delivered his first homer of the season- a two run shot
  • Payton Carli scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Elsy Guzman to cap the four run inning
  • The Lions scored two in each of the first three innings and one in the fifth

  • VU scored three in the third and fourth innings
  • Guzman broke up the shutout with her second home run of the year leading off the sixth

Thoughts from Coach Welsh

"Today was a good test for us. Vanguard is the best team we have faced all year so it was nice to see how we stacked up. We had some great at bats and did some things well however I'd like to see our team get better at the little things so that we can compete more with any team out there."

On Saturday, the Firestorm will turn right around and host No. 9 Hope International.  First pitch from Sandra Day O'Connor High School will come at 12:00 pm.
