- After giving up a leadoff single to begin the game, Savannah Smith retired nine straight
- Buckley singled and doubled to become the only Firestorm baserunner in the first four innings
- In the top of the fourth, VU broke through with four runs
- The Lions added two more runs in the fifth
- Anderson and Fryklund singled back-to-back, moved up on a wild pitch and Anderson scored on a sac fly from Phillips
- In the sixth, Schleisman doubled and Brenna Henry produced the RBI groundout to bring her home and cap the scoring
- Lawson forced the final out of the fifth and finished out the game

- VU produced one run in their half of the first
- Miles walked, Schleisman singled to right, and Fryklund doubled them home (a foot short of leaving the yard)
- Anderson plated Fryklund with a single for a 3-1 edge
- The Lions scored one in the third and threatened for more before a 5-4-3 double play ended the inning
- Lawson got the run back when she doubled home Fryklund
- In the fourth, Schleisman scored Phillips with a sac fly which turned out to be the game winning run
- Following a two run homer for Vanguard in the sixth, Smith closed the door with a four out save
