PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Arizona Christian Firestorm softball team extended their program best winning streak to now six games with their 13-3 and 5-1 victories against Crown College on Wednesday afternoon at the Rose Mofford Sports Complex.

With the victories, Arizona Christian improves to 12-4; a program best for wins in a season; topping the old mark of 11 set last season. With the losses, Crown College falls to 0-6 overall.

Game one saw the Firestorm strike in bunches; the first of which occurred in the bottom of the second inning. ACU struck for seven runs in the second inning on five hits and one error.

Crown College then responded with a three-run top of the fourth inning; before the Firestorm answered back with two runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth inning and four more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take the 13-3 victory in a final five innings.

Patricia Porter ended the game for ACU with a three-run homerun to right field. Porter ended the day 1-for-2 with a run scored and four RBI's. Firestorm starter Ashlynn Preciado (3-0) got the win, tossing three shutout innings while allowing a walk and striking out four.

In game two, the runs kept coming for the Firestorm as they struck for two runs in the bottom of the first inning, and then another run in the third inning to take an early 3-0 lead. Crown College hit a solo homerun in the top of the fifth inning to draw within two runs at 3-1.

The Firestorm put the game out of reach in the bottom of the fifth inning on a solo homerun by Meaghen Nelson and an RBI triple by Alyssa Vanderdrink to score Abby Beasley to make the score 5-1.

Arizona Christian starter Patricia Porter (3-0) earned the victory, going all seven innings while allowing just one run on two hits to go along with six strikeouts.

The Firestorm return to the diamond tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon to host Concordia University – Nebraska in a doubleheader; scheduled for 3pm and 5pm at the Rose Mofford Sports Complex. ACU will have off on Friday, before returning to GSAC play; when they host William Jessup University on Saturday at 12 noon and 2pm at Sandra Day O'Connor.
