Phoenix, AZ- Senior Hector Ortiz closed out his Arizona Christian career by being named to the 2017 All-GSAC Baseball Team presented by Under Armour.  Ortiz topped the Firestorm with a .347 average while starting all 50 ACU games at shortstop.

Ortiz, a two year player from Phoenix, AZ, ranked eighth in the GSAC with his batting average.   The rest of his season line featured 11 doubles (tied for the team lead) and 32 runs scored (tops on the team) along with six home runs and 38 RBI (both second on the team).  His 60 hits and 13 stolen bases led ACU.

Against GSAC foes, Ortiz hit .336.  Two of his home runs left the yard in GSAC action.

On six occasions, Ortiz collected three RBI in a game.  His highlight game of the season was a 3-4 performance against Westmont with a double and three RBI helping ACU earn their first ever sweep over the Warriors.  He had a three hit effort against San Diego Christian that included two doubles.

For his career, Ortiz appeared in 89 of the 90 games played by Arizona Christian the last two seasons.
