Firestorm Fall In Series Opener At William Jessup

Rocklin, CA- The Arizona Christian University Baseball team lost game one of the three-game series at GSAC leading William Jessup.  ACU dropped the contest by the score of 11-7 to the Warriors.

The Firestorm (16-25, 11-19 GSAC) started off the game hot plating four runs in the first two innings for the early 4-0 lead.  The Warriors (32-13, 24-7 GSAC) answered back in the bottom of the third scoring three runs.  ACU would go on to score one run in the fourth and two in the eighth.  Although the Firestorm outhit the Warriors, 10-8, ACU couldn't complete the comeback.

Senior Adam Wolfe paced the Firestorm at the plate going 3-for-3 with a home run, double, RBI, and a run scored.  Senior Michael Dunnebecke ended the game going 2-for-4 with a run scored.  Junior Trent Troncone also collected a multi-hit performance going 2-for-2 with two runs scored and a RBI.  Freshman Nash Gowin homered in the contest, his first of the season, while driving in two.

Senior Robert Milacki started on the mound going 5.0 innings allowing five runs (three earned) on four hits while striking out eight.  Junior Baylor Giannini was the first arm in relief allowing four runs on two hits without recording an out.  Giannini recorded the loss falling to 1-2 on the year.  Senior Austin Bright, Junior Stephen Streltzoff, Senior Tony Pins, and Junior Steven Butts all saw action on the bump in the game.

The three-game GSAC series will continue Saturday with a doubleheader.
