Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

WADDELL, Ariz. - The Arizona Christian University baseball team (9-4) swept its doubleheader against the Flames of Bethesda University of California (2-9) Tuesday evening, taking game one by a score of 15-6, and winning a seven-inning second game, 10-3.

Series Notes:

The sweep increased ACU's all-time series lead over Bethesda to 12-5, and also increased the Firestorm's current win streak against the Flames to four games, dating back to Jan. 30, 2019.

Game One:

The Firestorm totaled 14 runs on 15 hits in game one, including five extra-base hits from five different players en route to earning the lopsided victory, 15-6.

It was not just a high-powered offense that helped lead the team to victory however, as ACU's pitching staff allowed just two earned runs, led by starting pitcher Trevor McGee.  McGee earned the win and went five innings, allowing seven hits and two earned runs while striking out a pair.

Relievers Spencer Davis, Michael Bovee Jr, and Roy Washburn combined to close the final four innings and shut out the Flames, allowing just three hits and one free pass while striking out one.

ACU starter Eli Elliot picked up the win, throwing five scoreless innings of one-hit baseball while walking two and striking out a season-high eight batters. Alec Ivanoff appeared briefly in relief, recording just one out, and was replaced by Anthony Defrancesco, who closed the final 1-2/3 innings.  Defrancesco earned his third save of the season and allowed one hit and no runs while walking one and striking out one.

Thoughts from Coach:

"Tonight we were able to execute some really good baserunning, bunting, and timely hitting.  Our defense played great and we had solid pitching in a full-team effort."
